Less then two days left before the 1st Annual Calkain Cares Tops & Tails Gala on Friday October 2nd! We are honored to have Meaghan Mooney of WUSA9's Great Day Washington as the Emcee for the evening. The beautiful Salamander Resort will serve as the event venue for the black tie Gala. Why attend? Imagine if you did not have full use of your eyes, arms or legs and a friend gave you the confidence to do all of your daily activities in spite of that limitation. These remarkable friends do exist and they are service dogs from Hero Dogs and Canine Companions for Independence. These non-profit organizations provide trained companions at NO CHARGE to our wounded veterans and individuals facing physical and developmental challenges or long-term rehabilitation and illness. It costs between $10,000 and $50,000 to train and place a service dog! The evening will feature both of these charities inspirational work and a portion of all the proceeds will benefit both charities. Meet some of the extraordinary dogs and their handlers from as well.
