Lego Inspired Kids Birthday Party

With the release of the recent animated kids movie, The LEGO Movie, we were inspired to share a Lego themed kids birthday party! A favorite of ours growing up, Legos are a great item to not only decorate with and create an invitation with but, they are also wonderful giveaways at the end of the party. Here are some fun and creative ways of using this theme for your next kids birthday party.

Traditional & DIY Invitations

For a more traditional paper invitation, either of these are great inspiration. There are so many variations and options. If they are old enough, let your kids participate and choose the colors or Lego characters they want to use. It will get them excited for their upcoming party!

For a more modern DIY twist to an invitation, try the following unique (made with Legos) invites. Super glue Legos together and use a permanent marker or sharpie of your color choice to write on the Legos themselves. Another more customized option is a pre-packaged group of Legos (which can be customized and ordered online) and put all the party details at the top of the bag on the seal.  They can be hand delivered or passed out at school to the birthday boy or girl's friends! Kids can keep them in their room and anxiously await the birthday party versus hanging a paper invite on a fridge.

Party Time!!

Use Legos to create a door 'wreath' with the birthday boy or girl's age. It's a nice touch and sets the theme center stage from the beginning of the party.

Which kid wouldn't want to rock a Lego t-shirt? Order enough for all the kids attending in different colors (these can be ordered on Etsy store, MadeByMorganWiebke).

We love this giveaway option for the kids attending the party. Buy inexpensive frames from the craft store and super glue Lego pieces to them to create this look. Fun and easy. You can even use this as an activity during the party. Kids can make the frames themselves and frame printed and pre-cut photos of their favorite Lego character!

We at Host & Toast pride ourselves with the small personal touches at our events. Try the below easy options to make it a true Lego experience. Put Legos in the hand soap, use them to make a utensil bin, customize water bottles, or even use the Legos as jello molds (you can buy an actual mold but Legos work just as well).

What's a kids party without cake and candy?? Create a candy bar dedicated to the birthday boy or girl! Fill the table with Lego cookies, cupcakes, the birthday cake, jello, and candy of your choice in traditional Lego colors (red, yellow, blue and green).

Buy giveaway bags or buckets at the craft store in bulk (different colors) and fill them with fun treats or Lego inspired goodies for the kids to take home as a memory of the party.  An extra special touch is printing out a custom Lego Logo sticker with the birthday boy or girl's name and placing them on Lego toy boxes for giveaways. The same can be done with customized candy bar wrappers.

Activities are the core of a kids party. Give the kids at  your birthday party the chance to draw their own Lego characters or build their own creations from a personal mason jar full of Lego pieces.
